I heart Zappos.com- a logic lesson.

I love shoes (X). I have small feet.(Y)= P
Therefore, I purchase shoes online. =Q

I am female (Z) + Q
Therefore, I purchase shoes MANY shoes online. =M

I purchased 7 pairs of shoes from two different places with the last week, online.
I got the shoes, no problem. Turns out for many reasons I did not keep most of them. Return to store #1 went smoothly.
#2 Is to Zappos.
Yesterday, at work, I wore a pair for the first time, and they broke.
So I called.
They were nice. They were going to give me free shipping and send me a new pair. This is when segment P becomes a problem. They no longer had what I desired in my size, but they had something for my mom in her size. (this morning she had commented on my shoes and made a request) After a second, literally, on hold, they come back and told me to keep my shoes and they will send me the others for free, and if I chose to fix them, I may be able to get them to pay for the repairs, it depends. Even if they don’t. FREE SHOES!!! What more could a girl ask for? ;-)

Let me say again: FREE SHOES!!!!

New Meaning to Raccoon Eyes

SURPRSIE!!! We had our house painted. Since Tuesday morning our house has been insane. The painters came, turned everything upside down, created dirt and dust, and lets not forget the fumes. As part of painting they take down the blinds from the windows and remove the screens so they can paint the window frames. Now I have been sleeping with all my fans on, and the windows and doors open in an effort not to die.

So Tuesday night I took a chance on a bird flying in [so we were having a conversation about brids...] and left some of the screen-less windows open a crack. As it was I am always nauseous and sick bc of the freaking fumes.
Yesterday, thank g-d they put my shades and screens back in, because if not I would be locked in my bathroom and not at my desk now to tell you this story….

I set my alarm (or I thought I did, turns out I didn’t and I overslept by 25 min, yet miraculously was only 5 min late to work, g-d works in mysterious ways, but more on that later) for 6:30 am. At around 5:30 am I hear this rustling, I thought it was the fan/wind moving some of the crap that has found a home in my room or one of my brothers coming in to deposit something of mine that was in his room or ask me to move furniture, I sit up in bed and look in to the eyes of a raccoon on my roof, scratching on the screen. Now had the screens not been there and I was sleeping all open and vulnerable you can bet you’re a$$ I would have hightailed into the bathroom closed the door and screamed. I only pray that I would have had the sense to bring a phone with me. Which is why, one day, when I get to build a dream house I will put a phone everywhere! I mean bathrooms, closets, laundry room, you name it there will be a phone. Hey, we are saving lives here.

Weird thought of the day:

Does this happen to anyone else?
I find myself noticing small miracles that occur to me during the day, and then wishing g-d wouldn’t give me those, but bank em and save em up for something really big.

Eg: like when you have a song in your head and you don’t know why, and when you turn on the radio its playing! That’s a mini miracle. Now I could have lived without that. So can’t g-d just save all those little things up and put em all together and like let me win the lottery?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Paperclips

Tonight I am going to a Yom Hashoa (Holocaust memorial day) program. Now it made think about that movie paperclips. Paperclips
Where the kids collected 6,000,000 paperclips to symbolize those lost in WWII. And then built a whole museum around it at their school in a train car? If you don’t know what I am talking about, rent it, its like 1 hour and change and not too bad.

So I was thinking, why do they even continue to make paperclips?
With the exception of that movie, those kids and that project, I don’t think we need to have any more paperclips in the world.

We just recycle and reuse.
For example, when you get something with a paperclip, generally you take it off. Now keep them and you have a paperclip the next time you need one. Kinda like pay it forward, but with office supplies.

So if do this I think we could save some money and time. But I bet the paperclip people wouldn’t be too happy…

The Season Has Ended!

Well we made it through. The end of tax season is upon us. And who knew it would be so nice?
As if the end weren't enough, and getting my BF back to normal wasn't reward enough, he had to go and earn more of those stripes and points for being the bestest BF ever by doing this...

Yup! I got me a winner, and so far he's all mine.. but he does have a brother and a sister if anyone is interested :-)

Its been a while

Its been a while since I posted. Damn holidays. Anyway here are some snipets...

Not 1/4 of the way into the evening did several family members (my self excluded) get inebriated from drink. This caused yours truly to have to clean and wash. Not an easy feat after this kind of meal.

Since tis the season to go away shul was empty ish, but nice.
It rained, I didn't go.
More food.
Then we went to my aunts, what a trek. But my cousin is here from Florida and her kids definitely got cuter.
Then we got to walk home, which trust me we needed. (its almost 3 miles, which good did not put a dent in the damage we did in three days, anyone else feel my pain?)

Sat night was really nice. I gave the BF a mission, which he accepted. He had three days to come up with something really interesting/nice for us to do last night. He came through with flying colors!
We walked along the board walk in Long Beach. I was a little cold because it was windy but it was still nice. The moon was low and pretty full and not so many bums/hobos etc.. were around. Parking took a while but other than that I was pleased with the board walk. I think there will be a repeat, and we will be better prepared.

Today I think we are going to the autoshow at the Javitz Center, aka JEWVILLE!!! More to come I am sure...

Please Continue to Hold

I have no good excuse.
I have not been terribly busy, or anything of the sort. Its not laziness either. I just forgot. I had some good ideas and I meant to put em up, but then nothing.

But I ask with the Passover holiday approaching that you continue to hold.

I am sure based on the past my family there will be plenty of fuel for the fire after the holiday. So I hope to have a more interesting post after.

For now some bullet point highlights if you will:

  • I was not well and on antibiotics so I skipped out on a race this Sunday, but Cara did it in 39 Minutes. GO CARA!
  • It was the BF's birthday on the 3rd. I didn't make a big deal about it, because it was tax season and we are celebrating on the 30th (he doesn't know how so if you do please do not ruin the suspense/surprise) We went out to eat with his fam minus the sis and then had some cake back at his place, it was nice, but need I repeat, I can not wait for the season to be over.
  • Marylou's Sis got married (I missed it bc I had a race, but I had a great race) and her bro got engaged! YAY!
  • We got our boat fixed, so I cant wait for that to begin. Maybe I will learn to water ski this year?
  • One of my cousins had her second kid, another girl. Named Rebecca and my cousin Rebecca from CA (she's 17 if anyone knows anyone) is here for the holiday. Good Times.

I think that's all folks. Have a happy and good one!
