Chaquita Hazing

A few weeks ago sister Sho emailed us about a new member application. The first of its kind in our short but exciting history.
Last night was the initiation/hazing of Sig into the group.
I am saddened to say that due to circumstances beyond my control I was unable to physically be at the initiation. But I did send cupcakes and assist with the hazing game. Tacos were served and from what I gather a fun time had by all.
Mothers DD and Rach were not able to be in attendance.. but maybe one day soon our group can meet as one.
I just wanted to re-iterate what an amazing group this is. Sig is a worthy new member and we cant wait for her to plan her first event!
~Happy for chaquitas.

What I did on my Summer Vacation

I finally took a vacation day Monday the 14th.
Not a holiday, or sick day, but honest to goodness plain old day off.
Of course the Bf and I made the most of it.

Sunday was a day in the Nutmeg, i.e. CT state.
We started off with breakfast in our favorite restaurant. I personally have never eaten breakfast out. Other than the occasional bagel. So I indulged. PANCAKE! It was really good.
BF got eggs, spicy style, also good.

Then we were off.
We went picking in an orchard. We picked blueberry, which were tart, peaches and nectarine, which we weren't supposed to, but a guy in the parking lot told us they were good.
You had to let the fruit ripen for a bit off the trees, but they were good and it was fun!
They also had pears, apples and squash which we declined.
See the pics of the fruits of our labor:

Then we had a picnic on the water, which was nice. Mostly old people, but pretty and relaxing. I really never did anything like it before.
Then the obligatory stew leonards. Where I pulled on a rope and made a cow moo and saw real live stock! Don't worry Ray, no on was injured :-)

It was a long day but nice.

Monday was a day in NJ. Now we know how how I feel about this state... sorry Lish and Hubby...
First we went to the Jersey Shore at AC to hang on the beach. The weather was good for that. But I don't like sand.
Plus we put our sunscreen on while at the beach, so that and the wind made much sand stick to me. But I did my best. We stayed for about an hour. I was apparently a comedy routine all to myself. Then we changed, ate and headed for the Casinos.
We didn't win, but none-the less I had a great time. They built or are building this really cool mall at the piers which was nice tto. The drive back wasn't even that bad. I got to stop for TCBY :- )
I had a great vacation.
Thanks Joshy!!!!

TGIF?

Why cant we ever have just a normal low key Friday?
I am taking my first real vacation day on Monday, not a holiday or sick day, but flat out vacation! So I am kinda in vacation mode now... and I just want to not be bothered until its time to go, is that too much to ask for?

Well apparantly, yes!

The g-ds have deemed it not my day.
Our phones are down. All of them. Fax, 2 busniess lines and 1 personal line.

On the surface this may seem like my wish come true. No annoying clients or attorneys calling or faxing me. Nothing to decipher and nothing 'urgent' to atttend to.

All true. But this also means I can only do some of my work and must leave the rest.
I cant make calls or fax anything.
I can use my boss's cell phone, but for obvious reasons I can't call clients... so yeah, not fun.

I am the type of person who cant go to sleep in a bed that is unmade. I cant relax until the dishes are done, and until I am fully unpacked etc...

Not a good start to my vacation...

Part 2 of the EMERGENCY

So I had to buy shoes during lunch. I called Nacho to ask where she thinks I should go. I was led to “Love My Shoes” it was a good size store with many different types. However, I forget one minor problem I have with purchasing shoes… MY SIZE!!! Yeah I buy all my shoes online, because I am a size 5 and they don’t carry my size in stores. So after I realized this, I just wanted anything in my size… matching was gravy. (oh so to console my self, I ate a whole bag if Chex Mix… not good, and now I feel even worse, I am just having one of dem days) I found a pair of Gold Glitter Flip Flops… so ugly, but the price was right $5.99. The glitter falls off! That’s how bad they are. I am seriously considering throwing them after or ebaying them… they are that bad. So now I want normal shoes… and the quest begins!

Driving

I am a driver.
I drove to law school 40 min and 32 miles each way, for three years. I drive to work now every day. I like to drive. I am happy.
I am the first to admit I am not the best driver. Bu that is subjective, I am not a bad driver. I drive like I act, think and speak. Short, quick and to the point. I don’t care for traffic (although not to many people I know do) or long routes etc…
I weave, I cut off I am inpatient. But I am still safe. (Thanks to Athena more than I used to be)
Now I have several pet peeves of drivers….

  • Slow drivers.
  • People who not put on their turn signals.
  • Unecessary Brakers.
  • Daydreamers.
  • The people who when you are tyring to make a left, and are coming opposite you slow down or speed up just enough that you cant make the turn but are forced to wait there for what feels like forever.
  • Rain--> what is it about rain that makes people forget how to drive? do they think its the flood coming back? This goes for extreme heat as well. People who are hott are bad bad drivers.
  • Cars without E-Z Pass, welcome to 2006!!! dont block my lane to try and get ahead of the pack of idiots who have to pay cash, leave me and my EZPass to go in quick peace.
  • Feel free to add your own!
Happy Driving!

SHOE EMERGENCY!

Now I know you are probably thinking what he hell is she talking about? How can SHE have a shoe emergency? (I have over 100 pairs)
I was wearing my cute brown beady flip flops from old navy, which of course they don’t make anymore and all of a sudden the “thong” part came out of the shoe. I tried to scotch tape it back in, and even tried to use a paper clip but nothing worked. So now I walk like a retard….
I hope I can find a shoemaker to fix it. But until then.. I GET TO GO BUY NEW SHOES!!! So something good did come out of it. :-)
But I really liked them…

This also came in the middle of me writing a post about driving. But now I am just too worked up and distraught about the shoe I cannot think of anything else.
So that will be on hold… sorry.

104!!!

If I could figure out how to get the pictures on phone to my computer then you would not believe your eyes.
The temp according to my Athena thermometer reached 104!!! Toping the previous high of 102. Now you may think it dork like, but I did take a picture with my nifty trusty phone of the occasion.

Just to show you how hot it is, The Dixie Chicks {see Susanne’s blog, link --> for more info on them}were supposed to perform tonight at the Jones beach Theatre, but bc its just too gosh dang hot, they postponed it…. I really want to go… [HINT HINT mr BF ;-)]

It has been too long and I would like to use the heat as an excuse or even better that I am busy at work, but alas neither is true, although I wish the later was, because I am really bored. Truth is, a) I have become lazy and b) my life is boring. But not in a bad way, just in a way that there is nothing to report.

I thought of something!!!
The BF and I went ICE SKATING on Sunday. No you did not read that wrong. But how amazing is he? What a great idea no? It was in a place called Iceland and it was fun. I couldn’t find my skates so I had to rent and I forgot gloves but I had a really fun time.

Nothing new with volleyball except we have not yet won, which is not fun.
And SHO PASSED HER BOARDS AND GOT A JOB! She’s a big girl now!
Ray quit her job… and my friend in Cleveland had a baby boy…

So that’s all for now folks. Sorry my life isn’t all soap opera-ish for now, but lets hope it’s the heat and that things get interesting so I can report to you.

Have a meaningful 9th, for those of you who get that.
